Mechanical Design Engineer

Founded in 1968 as a trading company for Scandinavian laboratory equipment, SKAN is now global market leader in the specialist area of isolator construction for aseptic applications. One of our core competencies is the manufacture of process isolators for pharmaceutical-aseptic production. Even the most complex customer requirements can be fulfilled thanks to the experts at our in-house laboratories who research innovative solutions for isolator technology. 

We currently employ around 800 employees with over 40 nationalities represented. More than half of our employees are based at our main location at Allschwill in Basel-Country.


Responsibilities  Responsibilities


  • Construction of standardised insulator systems
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines, cost and quality requirements
  • Maintenance of planning and project documents
  • Design of plant parts and components
  • Support of the specialist departments in constructive matters
  • Cooperation with suppliers and production plants
  • Development and maintenance of internal design templates 
  • Collaboration in the development of cleanroom systems, from concept development to production readiness


Hardskills  Hardskills


  • Basic training as designer or mechanic 
  • Further training in the direction of design (TS)
  • At least 3 years of professional experience (special plant construction is an advantage)
  • Good knowledge in handling 3D-CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks
  • Experience with PDM systems in order to manage the CAD data
  • Very good knowledge of German and good knowledge of English
